Loma Linda To Create Endowed Scholarship, Should It Win the Contest December 9, 2002 OConnorReport Contest Dear Kathleen OConnor: The Loma Linda University School of Public Health would like to submit a letter of intent to participate in the Build An American Health System Contest. We are excited about this opportunity and look forward to bringing people together to discuss solutions to the challenges that face our health care system is facing. I have decided that if Loma Linda University is awarded the $10,000 cash prize, the funds will be used to establish the Remi Miles Kaemke Student Scholarship Endowment in the School of Public Health. It is hoped that the endowment with alumni and faculty support will grow to $20,000 in the next year or two. The interest generated from the $20,000 endowment will provide annual scholarships to students to submit a paper with the best solutions to our health care challenges and present during the School of Public Health Remi Miles Kaemke symposium. The named symposium will also be used to educate the community regarding the current health care system. In addition, the challenges and solutions that are developed from these process and annual symposiums will be compiled and published into a book to be used to educate and involve students in the current challenges of health care. Thank you for this opportunity to get people discussing solutions rather than focusing on the obstacles. We look forward to developing our final plans and being part of the entire process. Sincerely, S. Eric Anderson, Ph.D., MBA Reprinted and posted with permission |
